Title: Experiences with Philips HDD120

I read a lot about the iRiver H1x0/3x0, but the 20gb Philips HDD120 also has a Line-IN and can write mp3!

Doesn't anyone have experiences with this product?
If it doesn't have the sample loss and the recordingtime-limit of the iRivers, it could be worth buying it.

I'm not sure that writing MP3 is a desired feature.  Does it write any other format?  From what I saw of the specs, it looks like it is intended as an alternative to the iPod playing only lossy compression formats MP3 and WMA.

Have you tried one?

If you record mp3 at 200 or more kbps, the difference with wav can hardly be heard can it?

many people can hear the difference.

you're also getting into the problem where someone will convert the mp3's to audio CD, trade it around, and the next person will rip them back to mp3's, which is guaranteed to sound like crap.  It's like cassette generations all over again.
