I'm REALLY looking forward to taping at B'roo this summer....but I just don't see how a person can record 8-10 shows in a weekend with the short battery life that JB3's and UA5's have....the UA5 I can understand because two batteries fully charged should give up to 20 hours charge time....but what about the JB3? it only gets 6hours with 2 internal batteries.....so how may Iask do you do it?
-
Unfortunately, only way I know of to recharge the JB3 internal batts is...in the JB3.
However, there's a couple big threads on JB3 external power in this forum. Check 'em out. With an external power source for the JB3, it's easy to re-charge from an RV or vendor's AC outlet.
-
I've read through many of those threads....and everyone talks about building batteries and installing converters, and stuff like that....
but is there a Simple way of external power for us non electrical engineers lol
an option like the UA5 battery...where a person could just buy a preexsisting battery source and buy a few RS adapters and have it powering the JB3?
thanks for the help :D
I can't wait to finish buying my rig this week :D

I am testing the bumblebee VR-Jbox custom built by leegeddy(marc)...this looks promising, as it would allow you to power several things at once from the same power source. I will be testing the Ua5/jb3 running from a single wally world Li-Ion battery, I believe bean and caymen are testing theirs for the v3/jb3 combo..caymen may actually be running 3 outputs...

I read through and that would be great....
I'm trying to understand the car adapter thing....so you can hack it and run it inbetween a Wally World battery and a JB3 and it will power the jb3???
thanks for all of the help
-
yea, you can hack the car adapter, doesnt look to complicated either...good luck!
-
sweet, thanks...I've got a lot of engineer friends that I could get to wire something like that up for me :D

I knew nothing about soldering when I first stumbled on this board. And now I know just a little bit. The car adaptor mod, is very simple. You don't even need to solder. You just could use butt connectors. Red to red, black to black. If you have any questions pm me and I can try to help

Agreed. Bagtagsell's idea looks the easiest, so thats what I tried. It works like a charm. I posted some test results of running the Wally World batt into the JB3. Total was 16hrs 41mins. That should get you through most festivals. Plus, you have the 5-6hrs of the internal JB3 batts, so its almost 22hrs of JB3 power.
The mod is very simple, dont be intimidated, just do it carefully and follow the instructions step by step.
Good luck and +T
