My father wants to archive a bunch of old cassettes. I finally convinced him his SoundBlaster soundcard was not the way to go, that he wanted to perform the ADC outside his PC. So, on my advice, he picked up an Edirol UA-25.
However, he remains utterly unconvinced that he needs a playback deck with adjustable azimuth and plans on using some old, medicore deck that probably hasn't received any sort of maintenance in 10+ years. I, unfortunately, do not have a deck with easily adjustable azimuth. What I'm looking for, so he can understand the importance of adjustable azimuth:
[1] a brief audio sample from a recording played back on a deck with properly aligned azimuth
[2] the same brief audio sample played back on a deck with woefully mis-aligned azimuth
Can anyone help me produce these two samples? Only brief sample needed, so I can chuck a pair of headphones on his noggin and play 'em back so he "sees the light".

Heath - that'd be fantastic! Thanks in advance, I appreciate it...

no problemo. they will be samples of azimuth adjustments on stereo 1/4" reels, as opposed to a cassette, but the result of the azimuth mis-adjustemnt should be the same, and drastic enough to prove your point...

Sounds just fine by me.

I'm curious as to what type of stuff he'll be transferring?

Edit: or were you asking Heath? Well, even if you were asking Heat, here's my answer... :P
A mix of voice and music cassettes: interviews with family members, some Art Van Damme and/or other studio cassettes no longer available (anywhere as far as I can tell) on which my grandfather played bass, that sorta thing.

Whoops. The question was directed at you, Skalinder. Sounds like a neat project for you and your pop. :D
