The documentation that comes with these mics stinks.
Thanks
-
is it the old ones that dont have the polar patterns drawn on them? if so then the ones with holes are cards, and without are omnis. +T for c4s
-
Thank you very much. I don't see anything on them at all regarding polar patterns. The holes settle it for me. +T and thanks for the quick answer... got to use them this afternoon.

dumb mistake on studio projects part, original caps werent marked, and original shocks sucked. if yours dont have the bands in an X over the top of the clip, get a new pair from alan hyatt. theyre MUCH sturdier and hold the mic better with out risking breaking the plastic parts. now if we can only get those hypers... (cant wait)

Feelin' real stupid about right now@!!!! I have had less then ideal results since I got my mics at small bars and thought the problem was my connecters. Duhh!! I thought the caps w/ the holes on the sides were the OMNI and w/o the cards. Thanks for correcting my stupidity and ignorance.+T for GQJSP. Peace

Would love it if someone could post pictures of new vs. old!
-
the difference between new versus old isn't that much iin pictures, you can tell the difference because above the plastic piece in the new ones the elastic suspensions cross in an x while in the old ones they simply do this \ / above the plastic piece.
-
what are you doin up sirchek, what time is it over there?
about 330 am, just got back from going out, actually came back alone all of my friends are going strong till the metro starts at 5 am, I just couldn't do it, too tired from the long week.

Buried somewhere in the Team Studio Projects thread are pics of the old vs. new shockmounts. Its somewhere on the first few pages I think.

Thanks Jim.
I've got the new ones. I know folks had trouble with the old one being too loose, but the new ones are tight as hell. I'm afraid of scratching or breaking the mics sometimes when I force them in there.

Just be gentle when putting them in and you should be fine. I didn't have any problems with them and they keep them nice and secure. The last thing you want if your mics are clamped to a balcony or even on a stand is them falling out and taking your gear with them.

Hey y'all,
I'm a newbie taper...going to attempt to tape with c4's tonight for the first time.
Which mic caps do you use in which enviornment.
If I'm in a small club...which caps should I use, the ones with the holes in them or not.
If I'm at an outdoor venue...which caps should I use?
Thanks

I'd say cards for indoor/club, possibly spaced omni's for outdoor. But def cards for the club, unless you're doing on-stage.
