Title: Wolfson DAC chip (sigma-delta)
Post by: BobW on January 23, 2005, 09:56:34 PM
Anyone know anything about the Wolfson sigma-delta 24/192 D/A chip ?
I found a blow-out Harman Kardon universal(SACD/DVD-A) disc player with them and was wondering if it was worth the $240

[EDIT]  the HK unit doesn't play SACD

not sure it is the same chip, but the Onkyo SP1000 and Integra 10.5 ($2K/$2500) use Wolfson DAC's

It's a WM8740, FWIW. (http://www.microcom-inc.com/Wolfson/Wolfson%20Datasheets/digital%20audio/dacs/wm8740.pdf#search='Wolfson%20WM8740')
