Title: SBD / onstage mics > DAP1?
Post by: nugjams on January 25, 2005, 02:14:12 PM
I was told that the DAP1 can be split 50/50 if you use mics and a soundboard patch to the rca inputs. Just wondering if this is possible and if anyone has had any success with this technique.  I run FOH for some friends but haven't had the chance (if it's even possible) to try it.  Any ideas?

exactly, but that deck continues to surprise me so who knows.  I thought that might be worth trying to get clearer vocals through the board and a better mix through onstage mics.

the only way i can see you doing this with a p1 is to use your left input for a mono board feed and your right for a mono mic mix...then import the individual channels into a DAW to mix appropriately.  The deck will not mix for you (at least I've never heard or read anything that says it does).  If I'm wrong here, someone please correct me, but I highly doubt the dap1 will mix the inputs of mic in and line in for you...

The deal w/ that is to use both rca's and xlr inputs...so you get 2 lefts combinding into 1 and same for the R.   you will need to adj the rca board feed by the sends on the board WHILE listening to the headphones.  What I'm not sure of is if you can use the phantom for this???

hope this helps

Wow... I've had the DA-P1 for a few years and just learned something myself. However, that said if you plan on doing this a lot, you might look into an ENG mixer. If it's just a one time thing, it's not going to be worth it (although, I'd gladly sell you a 4 channel ENG mixer if you just have to have one...) ;-)

I was thinking about using both xkr and rca inputs.  Thanks for brainstorming this one guys.  Pittsburgh, Hell Yeah!
