So i am running my DAT to my computer through the USB in my UA-5 to Soundforge 6.0.
Question...
The recoding level green bar things in soundforge, should i try to keep these low or high or in the middle?? so basiclly how to adjust the output level from teh UA-5 when recording to soundforge....High or low...which is better

Levels should be on the high end but don't clip. SF has undo, find a loud section and if you get too close to the top/clipping or the red clipping thing shows up,stop, undo, lower the level

If you're sending a digital signal from your DAT through the UA5 to your PC via USB:
DAT 7-pin > S/PDIF coax > UA5 > USB > PC
Then you don't need to - can't - adjust the levels in Soundforge. If you're running the DAT into the UA5 via an analog signal:
DAT line-out > UA5 analog-in > USB > PC
Spend a few bucks on a 7-pin / coax cable so you can do digital transfers! If that's not an option, set your peak levels using the UA5 and - since the UA5 has a single light for indicating peak levels - use Soundforge to monitor L/R balance.
