i've uploaded a bunch, and just got this message for the first time and don't know what it means. it was on the page where you would go to get info on the show.
This show is not yet available. The current progress notes are:
ia12123.archive.org [9736]: No metadata describing files found. Waiting for user to enter metadata.
what is "metadata"

Sorry for the thread Hi-jack, Mike...But I love the Fericito avatar.

Mike - there's a link to the FAQ on the main page for that. :) Basically after you're done importing the show there's a big red link asking you to input metadata. It pops up a box that mostly pulls stuff from the info file, if it's formatted normally, so usually it's just a click, a quick scroll, and another click. To fix it, just click "File options" on the show's detail page and make sure everything looks kosher.

is that his name? all i know is it took me forever searching on google to find that pic. as for the other info, thanks so much. i will look into it and see what i can find. i was gonna search the archives but i didn't know where to start cause i had never seen this problem before
-
cool. i looked into it this morning. the problem i think is that all the files are .shn but one is .mkw and i think it's causing the problem cause that was the thing missing when i edited the show.

Oof, yeah, mkw will screw things up. They don't take mkw because it's not supported on anything but Windows. It could also be the fact that the import is screwed up - there's some notes about it at the top of the forum, that the metadata isn't "sticking". So you could have done it right but it's still choking on it. :P Happens from time to time but they eventually fix it.

well i unshortened all the files and then turned them back into .shn with a new md5. should i just reupload it with all the new stuff? who do i get to delete the old upload?
-
I'm actually getting the same error on an ARU upload, so it's definitely the archive...but yeah, you should replace that mkw. To replace a fileset completely, just upload it ALL again, and use this page to fix it: http://www.archive.org/update_item.php
