personally i would use 'join' command of shntool.  easy, quick and proven to work without clicks or pops.  for example if you wanted to combine 2 .wavs (1.wav and 2.wav)  just type...

shntool join 1.wav 2.wav

into the command prompt (start > run > 'cmd' for winXP).

or if you had a directory and you wanted to join all of the .wav files in that directory you could do...

shntool join *.wav

i go into wavelab and open the first file/track, then go to 'edit' and 'insert audio file'

do this as many times a neccessary :)

wave merge is way easier than all that (from the sound of it)  open wave merge.  click on edit > add wave.  then click on edit again > create wav.  then you have one long wave file.
