I just got back from a concert that I stealthed with my Sony MiniDisc recorder (MZ-NHF800). Anywho, I've never recorded with it before. When I import the files, they are imported as ".omg" files. I was wondering if there was any way that I could convert the .omg file to a .wav file. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
-
what are you using to open the files with?
-
I imported the files with SonicStage (the software that came with the minidisc recorder). From there, the only other thing that can read a .omg file is Windows Media Player, which is odd because WMP usually sucks.

not familiar with SonicStage.....sorry
+T for getting out and taping though!!

this is from another site:
i know how to convert omg to wav, go to the sony web site and update your sonic stage software to version 2.1, you can then download a wav converter from the support page, then just download a wav to mp3 converter and it is done, its a bit long winded but its the only way i know at the moment. ps you have to register with sony web site but it costs you nothing not even for the downloads ok mate. i hope this has helped you.

Before Download - verify SonicStage v2.1 or higher is installed
direct link to converter: http://sonyelectronics.sonystyle.com/walkmanmc/wav.html
good luck :)

Hmmmm.....it says that it only supports OMA files. I tried, and it won't read the OMG files. Thanks though. I'll figure something out.

is this a hi-md recorder? i think there might be a non sony program out that will convert the file, but i'm not for sure. seems like i remember this discussion before, but can't remember off the top of my head.

i think thats the program that you want. not for sure tho, but its worth a shot.

Yes, use either Sony Wav Renderer or Marcnet's HiMDRenderer. But HiMDRenderer support more types of files (including those recorded digital-in). And upgrade SonicStage at least to 2.1. (2.3 is reported to be more stable).
Edit:
If you try to upload a large PCM from your HiMD to your PC with SonicStage, this can freeze your PC for a period of time ... Split in several tracks on the HiMD before uploading, this should go more smoothly.
