i am getting an error when trying to update firmware. the error states.."your player cannot startup properly. please reboot and run this application again." anyone had this problem that can steer me the right way? i have version 1.10.06 currently. i tried to use the newest version but it told me to download an appropriate version first. it did connect with the jb3s and check the current version. the earlier versions did not do anything except give me that warning.
i did not see this in the faq forum
thanks for any help

I believe you have to update to the next version in line, then the next, then the next......until you get to the latest. that's what I had to do.
-
^ I just dl'ed the latest one and it worked so you might not have to get all of them
-
did you have the previous version though?
-
na, i just got the jb3 today, couldn't monitor the levels so i updated the firmware and it worked. I just got the latest one, 1.40.something i believe
-
i have been trying to use newer versions starting with the next version up from 1.10.06. i can not get 1.11, 1.20 1.32 to work either. not sure what i am doing wrong.
-
I got a new one recently, and I did upgrade 1.10 -> 1.30 -> 1.40 without problem.
-
anyone else have any suggestions? i was hoping to use the jb3 to tape the north mississippi allstars on saturday. not sure i want to try it with out some kind of level to monitor with. what problems will i have using it with the current firmware 1.10.06?
-
I was able to go 1.10 > 1.4 but I know that others haven't been as lucky. Are you getting the installation exe files from creative's website? I had issues with the exe's I dl'd from Nomadness but the ones from Creative worked like a charm.
-
i have tried them from every where i can find them to only get the same results. it is getting frustrating. i am fairly computer literate and have not had this much trouble with much more difficult operations.
-
The techs at Creative told me that all the JB3s that were older ones (the first half of the release year) needed to be updated PROGRESSIVELY from the earliest to latest. The newer releases of the JB3 could go straight from the firmware that was on it to 1.40.06.

i have tried progressively. i can't get the next one up from 1.10.06 to work
-
Go straight to 1.40.06 then??
+T for your troubles hoss.
-
when i go straight to 1.40 it tells . it will not allow me..."You cannot use this firmware upgrade for your player. Please download a suitable firmware upgrade." it is strange though that 1.40 is the only version that i can actually see interface with the device. all the other versions give the warning about it not starting up properly before i can see it interact with the device.

Try that automatic software update wizard on www.creative.com (http://www.creative.com) under support and drivers..

Dude that sucks!! I never ran the 1.10 version, but I thing the biggest issues would be the missing level meters and ability to start another file quickly after three hours. It doesn't sound like the file limit will be an issue. The meters are not that accurate from what I understand. If you have some really good headphones you could monitor that way, but unless you're at an acoustic show, the band will probably be too loud for this method to be effective. Depending on your soldering skills you could pick up a DIY VU monitor kit from Rat Shack or try to borrow an external meter from the loaner board. Otherwise, try cranking your home system to get a feel for high decibel levels and guess when you're at the show. T+ for the hassle and good luck!

the only update auto update recommended i use was version 1.36 (france only). i got the thing from ebay and it appears to have never been used. i was told they used it to record themselves line in and it was not compatible with their mac so they finally sold it. i hate to know i got one that will not be able to be used properly. there has got to be a solution to this.
thanks for everyones help so far.......

Hmmm. Call creative..They are very good at tech support. Just fib about the purchase date and all....

well i had no luck getting this thing going. i even spoke with creative on the phone and they talked me into reloading the OS. only problem is it still would not take the original or upgrade. i got frustrated and bought a refurb off ebay direct from creative. worse case scenario i wil keep trying to get the one working and eventually have two of them. this is a great community and i appreciate everyones help!! if any of you are near south mississippi and want a project like reloading everything on a jb3 let me know.
