Title: A better way to spread the shows, hopefully
Post by: rvman on February 19, 2005, 11:21:20 PM
Hey guys -

We got feedback from alot of you earlier on this subject --> We'd like to make it easier for all to spread the wealth of archived shows and future recorded shows - -

We started a live concert bittorrent site called purelivegigs.com that's been going well for awhile -    Here's the upshot:
- We'll encode & seed your stuff on our group of servers if you send CDs to us (several of our website members with access to fast/large servers have offered up bandwidth to us)
- You will get credit for the seed without the hassle of encoding the material (& spread the love)
- Your seed will go way faster and stay live longer without using any of your bandwidth

- Reply to this thread or send an email to webmaster@purelivegigs.com if you're interested, with a list of what you have/how much you'd be willing to send.  We'll send you back a physical address to mail to - it doesn't have to be stuff you taped yourself.

We're also going to be monitoring the bastard ebay sellers - so don't worry too much that your contribution will end up in the wrong hands.

We hope this helps get some more stuff out there for the benefit of the community and puts your good work into people's ears!

thx alot!

Anything goes, but focused mainly on rare & unique, possibly uncirculated classic and current bands.  Send us a list of possibilities & we'll give you an idea.

I'm looking to spread my Bright Eyes recording from 2/15/05 (Conor Oberst's birthday). You want to seed that?

do you want raw untracked wav's? any bit/sample rate? flac or shn? just curious.

Would that include little known local/up and coming bands?  Good ones, of course, not just your little brother's new band that's only been playing for a month.   ::)

I tape a lot of local acts and there's two or three that just blow me away every time I see them.  I'm constantly amazed that they aren't playing to sold out arenas around the world.

sending cds would mean there would have to be EAC or some other DAE.  now untracked flacs would work.  great idea btw.

Flac is best, but would take wavs as well - the more info you can provide about the setlist/lineage, etc, the better.  You can pm me if you want

We're def'ly open to new bands & even want to make it a feature of the site, as we tend to get newer bands anyway.  The issue is right now people only DL what they know well, so I think it can be done but won't be that popular - tough situation for us and the bands ---

great idea btw.

thx - just trying to spread the good stuff - the idea actually came out of a direct question to tapers here about how best to get their stuff out there...

Yes, we'd like them tracked - 16/44.1 is what we want, yes.  We can track in certain cases but it would make it alot easier to have it tracked for us --
