hey guys....any advice on the pros/cons of either of these setups would be appreciated....i'm only looking at either the PS-2, MV-100 or the Samson S-Phantom Power unit (similar to PS-2). big questions are do i need transformers and/or attenuator cables? is the S-phantom as good as the PS-2?....can i run the S-phantom with a rechargable RC battery pack (9.6V)?
I'll be running the CMC-8 cards with the phantom power modification. possible setups....
1. mics>PS-2 or S-phantom>transformers>archos Gmini 120
2. mics>PS-2 or S-phantom>archos
3. mics>MV-100>archos
4. mics>attenuator>MV-100>archos
also, is the samsom power modules (PM-4) any better or worse than the AT8533x versions? the AT ones are way expensive.....can they be that much better? also, i assume the AT CP8201 and the MIT-176 transformers are about the same in regards to quality?
thanks all...

$59. Not bad. Wonder why I've never heard of this before? Anyone seen or used one?

The S-phantom is a good deal vs the ps-2 @ around $150. My favorite thing about the ps-2 is that it holds phantom power when unplugged for just over a minute. Great for swapping batts. At festivals, all my used batteries get sucked dry in the ps-2. The warning light comes on, and I swap.
