So nothin' goin' on tonight....
Pardon this potentially "dumb-ass" soliciting question, but how do you use an SVU meter properly without breaking the digital stream? Maybe the question is, where does it go in the equipment sequence?
The only thing I can think is that it would run from the analog (RCA) outs of the ADC. Is that it?

You are not an idget. That is a critical issue, and along with calibrating it you need to make sure nothing changes or it becomes useless. I suspect many people are getting messed up by the monitor button on a UA-5 - this will drastically affect the levels the SVU sees while having no impact on the digital stream.

As stated above, it is best to run the SVU-x at the end of the chain. That way, you can see if there is any problem with cable connections or you lose a signal somehow. I run my out of the line 1 out port on my JB3.

That's a good point. I run the Di-Port 24bit, not UA-5, but it also has a monitor switch.
