ok here's my problem... i've han this emagic 2|6 for a while now to do conversions. i hardly ever have an issue, but right now i'm having a big one. i can't get the thing to see the digital signal out of my m1 > 7-pin > coax. it just sits there with the LED lit up on analog. i've tried it on both a windows machine and a mac. same thing. any ideas? thanks for any help. oh, and i've already tried rebooting both the comps and the device, and i've re-installed the software.

any internal settings where you might be able to select between analog and digital input?? ???
-
Can another device get signal from that m1>7pin>coax combination? Perhaps there's an issue in that link of the chain. Likewise, do you have any other digital device to test the 2|6 with? A recevier's digital output might work.

There's that switch on the front that selects digital vs. analog input - any chance it got moved?
If you need another digital signal source for testing (in case your 7 pin is shot) most DVD players have a coax digi out.

i'll try the dvd player idea to check it, but the 7-pin is good. i've tried two of them and gotten the same thing.

the switch is set to digital?
have you looked at the Audio Midi Setup in applications/utilites?
-
switch is set to digital, and i have gone through the audio midi stuff. still can't get this thing to work. another odd thing... when i close the lid to the powerbook it will switch over to "digital in"... when i open the lid it switches back to analog.
