I'm going to be taping all 3 of Slint's Chicago shows coming up on the 24th, 25th, and 26th. Here's my setup, and i'm having problems so i could use some advice:
Oktava MC-012 (pair) > Monster XLR > Denecke PS-2 with 1/8" out > Sony PCM-M1.
I'm not really getting any levels at all. I tried switching it from line-in to mic-in and it does nothing for me. Do I need something else or am i just screwed?

Double check the battery in the PS-2.

Check you M1 padding switches on the back!

I had the same setup as yours the first time I taped (minus the recorder which was a portable MD).
I was getting very low levels even by running mic-in at max on my recorder.
Are you getting low levels or no levels at all ?
If you are getting low levels, you will need a preamp. If not, check your connections, batteries ...

I reckon' that setup would need some transformers to kick up the gain...
And you better share those tapes! ;)

check your cables. check your battery for the ps2.
test again using MIC-IN on the M1 with 0dB on the pad switch. crank your dial on the M1 to 10. you should see plenty of level with spoken voice into the mics.
if you don't see levels with the above settings/checks, there's something wrong somewhere.
