Whenever I try to burn a CD using DAO, the track transitions have skips in them, then followed by 1-1.5 seconds of silence, then it plays the next track. I tried burning TAO, and it had the perfect 2 second gaps.
The thing is, the skipping problem happens for a few weeks, then goes away, but then comes back. It is frustrating.
Fwiw, I am using a Dell Dimension XPS T600r, with a stock CDRW drive. I use the Apatec (sp?) burner software that came with computer, and have contemplated using the Creative Play Center burner if it is possible to burn DAO.
Has anyone else had this problem? I can provide some sound clips easily if it would make it more clear.
Thanks in advance!

save yourself the headache and grab a liteon burner from newegg for $50. hell, you can even get a dual layer DVD burner for around that price.
you could also try using a different burning program, what are you using now?

I probably will just buckle down and get a new drive. Who/what is newegg? Can I please get a link?
Thanks for the advice, +t

didn't realize that the 52x CD burners were down to $22.50, it's crazy how fast these things drop in price.
if you need a copy of Nero, the best burning software, IMO, just PM me.

Another thought -- I never had good luck with the adaptec software. Before dropping $$$, I'd uninstall all of your cd burner software and install nero in its place. If burning with nero doesn't fix things 100% with your existing drive, then buy a new drive (and get a dvd burner -- the liteon, pioneer or nec -- via newegg instead of merely getting a cd burner, only a few bucks more for a LOT more flexibility).

my dell came stock with a sony burner and it rocks. maybe 4-5 coasters in well over 1000 disc burnt. I would bet it's the software.
