looking to invest in one. was wondering if there is much difference or if they are basicaly the same? any help is greatly appreciated.

One of them can't record a certain frequency via the analog in. I think it's that the D7 can't do 44.1, only 48, but you'd have to do the research to confirm which one can't do what.

na, it's like 5x-4x=1x....D8-D7=D1...but you should probably just say "D" as you don't typically use 1 as a coefficient

and oh yea, i think one of them has a red dot on the record button, the other doesn't :P

This is correct - the D7 does not have the option to set the sampling rate at 44.1 for analog input (only 48 or 32), but it will record at 44.1 if it receives the sampling rate via digital signal.
