Title: PH 48> attenuators maybe?>AD20
Post by: peterbilt on March 28, 2005, 12:12:03 PM
Saturday night I ran the new to me MBHO's for the first time, with some nice results but one thing I did notice was that the signal from the 603's was much hotter than with the NAK 300's.
Yes, I have read that the 300's do not push a very strong signal, and the AD20 did help immensely, but with the MBHO's I had to turn the knobs all the way down to avoid some serious distortion!
All I had to do was up the gain even a wee bit and the levels were through the roof so to speak.
So I guess my question is, should I try running attenuators between the BPS and the AD20 to tone down some of the signal so I can open up the AD20 a bit more?

With the AD20's inherent gain, I am planning on purchasing a new pre-amp but in the meantime what do you think?

Yup... Shure A-15S is whatcha gonna need, I believe.  I needed attenuators w/ every setup involving the AD-20 I had.  AD-20 has +17db of gain even when the knobs are turned down.
