Hey, I've got shows I really want to tape tomorrow and saturday, and my f'n JB3's optical in is not working. I've had the thing re-soldered and still no dice. Anyhow, I was thinking of trying to go AT853rx>PS2>Line In on my JB3, using a crazy concoction of xlr>1/8' adaptors, but I remember hearing that the levels coming out of the ps2 aren't line level. Still, the jb3 has a +12db to -12db adjustable gain, so could I use that and manage to pull a decent tape while I figure out how to get my damn AD20>JB3 setup back in order?
Any input would be really appreciated!!

Go to your local music store and get a pair of impedance matching transformers. About $20 each.
Couple threads about them if ya want to go looking.

No problem,
Even if the JB3 will give you enough gain my itself, you'll get much better results using the transformers with the jb3 @ 0
