I'd like to make a t-bar. My AKG active cables have clips with swivle mounts that accept 3/8.
If I can find a 1.5 inch to 2 inch bar thick enough to fit in a shock mount with 3/8 in mail thread on each side I'm home free!
I have some bogen 5/8 studs where one side is 3/8 but the other is 1/4. I found a thread adapter but I'm not sure the 5/8 diameter is going to work in a shock mount.

Have you looked at Lowe's? They make 3/8" bars in length from 1" to 4' long. You might be able to cut one down to size if you needed. My suggestion would be to get a PVC pipe coupling (about 2") and a 3" 3/8 bar (should be in one of the drawers). Stick the bar through the PVC, put two washers on either end and then secure it with 2 3/8 locking nuts. This is what I did a while back, but it was 6,12 and 24" bars.

I believe I made a something similar to what you are looking for. It is made from either 3/4 or 5/8 od aluminum tubing I found at Lowes this fits perfect in the at8410. I used a single 3/8 threaded coupler cut down to size and mounted my audix clips on it. The tube is 3ft long but I used about 4 inches total on this project. I am going to use the remainder for split omnis.

So I built one and ordered a shure A55HM shock mount to hold it.
As soon as I figure out what I did with my digi camera I'll post.
Basically I found a plastic 3/8 bolt and snipped off the top. Both AKG clips screw into each end and I put about a 1 inch length of platic tubing over the bolt to get the right diameter to fit in the shock mount. It makes almost an exact DINA for my hypers.

Well I can't find my digi camera...
So I went looking for a good shock mount for my t-bar and found the shure A55HM it looks perfect. I ordered it next day air and found out it's back ordered at shure until May 5th :( Not going to get one in time for JazzFest.
Here's a picture of the A55HM I like how you don't have to thread the T-bar through the middle but can snap it in....w00t!
