If he is charging more than $50 for it, you can just get it at wall-mart.

You can also get more juice in the form of 3 2000mha 9.6v rc car batts (that's 6 total vs 5.4) plus a charger from batteryspace (off ebay) for just over 50

I was just curious if their was any dif between the two because Oade is offering a package deal w/ a 4.5 ah NiMH battery, charger & power cable for $550.00 on their homepage.

Are you sure it's 4.5?? The wallmart one is 5.4 big difference.

the oades battery is a nimh battery, the walmart is a lithium ion.  The walmart battery is nice, in that it has a built-in charger, etc.  However, lithium batteries lose capacity over time, while nimh batteries are less susceptible to this.

If you're comfortable making the mods necessary to have the walmart (or rc car battery) solution work, go for it.  I'm sure the oade's battery solution will be a well made (and likely fused) companion to the ua5 and will work out of the box (and will be supported by the oades).  A diy solution will not receive such support.

I have to oade one, it is super nice. I got it , took it to the mike watt show(after forgetting to charge it, been at my house for like 3 weeks before use) and used it for the entire show without any problems.

The Oade's is an energizer battery (don't know if they modded it or anything though), and fully charged, it runs the UA-5 for at least 5 hours.

I bought the 9.6v RC batts from batteryspace, and have been happy.  If I was to do it again, I would get the Wal-Mart battery.  Will run UA-5 for longer, lighter weight, and it tells you how much charge it has.

ran mine(oade's) both nights at wanne(recharged overnight) and only lost 1 light on each night. didn't use the phantom power, but i'm sure it still would've made it.

I love my Wallyworld rechargable... it has easy to read LED's telling how much power is left. Cheap and easy.

indeed. not to mention it'll power the thing for 8 hours or so. i've taped many a 2 hour show and it rarely even loses one light on the meter

Just for an FYI the Lithium Ion version of this battery just got a workout at the Wanee Fest.  Ran my UA-5 with phantom power for almost 8 hours successfully!   Schweet!
