on a couple tapes from last weekend, i found a bit of noise at the begining of a couple sets. nothing realy major, but anoying just the same. it's the sound of a shorting cable to my ears? could this be caused from pluging in patchers? or should i look somewere else for the problem?
just to clarify a little: i never had this noise before. first time someone patched from me. also first time running this particular rig: nak 301>ua-5>d8 and new cables(no continuity problems). the noise coinsides w/ when patch might have been pluged in? patched out of ua-5 & d8.
i have no problems w/ patchers, but would it be better to say:" if you got here before the music started... " or should i look at other issues?

The noise could be any number of problems.
With regards to the patcher issue, I NEVER let anyone patch after the set starts. Most folks who patch regularly know to get there early and wait, or turn their gear over to the taper for him/her to deal with once the rig is set up.

As a patcher I would never ask for a line out once the music starts, especially with smaller decks. I would wait untill a set break, or just be, shit out of luck.

Except the kind that sounds like, "Yo, brah, can a brotha get a patch?" real loud ;D

thanks for the input guys. think i narrowed it down abit though and it's not in the recording. seems to be issues w/ my da-30 and the rr/ff buttons(or should i say transport?). after transfering one show on a tape and cueing it back up for the next i heard the same noise and it wasn't there the first time through. guess i'll start w/ a good head cleaning and see if that helps.
