Title: Difficulty creating flac fingerprint
Post by: krebsy on April 24, 2005, 03:47:16 PM
Been having trouble making ffp files with the frontend recently.  I used to be able to make them, but now I get the following errors...

Too many parameters
Too many parameters
Bad command or filename
Writing Flac fingerprint...
Bad command or filename  (this repeats for the number of files I have loaded in the frontend)
Finished

I've tried this on flacs that I have d/l'd as well, so it seem to be a problem on my machine, even with flacs others have created. I can decode and encode just fine, but ffp's seem to be a no go.  Any ideas?   ???

un-install the current version and d/l the newest flacfrontend

or restart your comp, youd be amazed at what that can do

Was a solution ever found for this problem?  because I have exactly the same issue and I'm trying to make a ffp file so I can upload a show to the LMA.  A side-issue is that when encoding, all tag entries are being filled with the file info, which is a new one since only a few days.

Tried restarting, and the computer's been switched off at various times the last few days too, uninstalled and reinstalled flac, etc.  Is there any other way to extract the fingerprints?

Thanks

The first time I tried to use it, my computer crashed in a new and interesting way, but it's WinME so I'm used to that sort of thing... but after the restart it worked perfectly so thanks!!

It's an Andrew Bird performance I'm hoping to upload in the next few days if anyone's interested.

On my WinXP SP2 box, I find that I can only save flac footprints to text files that are in the same directory as the location of the flac files.

I recommend trying that if you have problems with Flac 1.7.1 Etree edition. May solve your problem.

I have also found that Flac doesn't seem to work well at saving footprints over a network.

To be clear, I use Flac Frontend amost daily, store all my shows in FLAC except for about 10% in SHN and except for that one intermittent bug, no other problems with it.

Why is XACT and your port of it to Windows better than FLAC Frontend for Windows?

Try it. If it works, there's something it's sending to FLAC on the command line that's different than what the frontend is doing.

if something wasn't working for you under flac frontend, it can't hurt to try something else....
