Title: Burning video dvd's locks up drive
Post by: dmonterisi on April 28, 2005, 01:16:10 PM
i'm having a strange problem.  every time i try to burn or copy a video dvd with nero, the drive and nero lock up at the "100% writing lead-out" phase.  when this happens, i cannot close nero, cannot eject the disc and cannot stop the drive through the windows "safely remove hardwar" utillity (it's an external drive).  i have to shut down or restart the PC completely to get the disc out, but the disc will be complete and will play in my home dvd-player.  this does not happen when burning data dvd's.  anyone have any idea what's going on?  thanks.

i believe so, when i wiped my machine last month and re-installed everything, i think i got the most recent drivers for everything.  the machine is more stable now, it's still slow for certain things, but this seems to be my only big problem.  the drive used to not be recognized at all by any programs (including windows explorer) and that's not happening anymore.

This happened to me with an entire spindle of blanks that apparantly wouldn't burn a 'full' DVD.
The worked just fine if you only loaded them up to ~4G but wouldn't accept much more.

i use dvd decryptor or dvd shrink for this very reason, nero seems to choke on copying on the lastfew versions for some reason

id say go w/ either of the two i mentioned, and your golden, and dvd shrink is nice, cause its easy as hell to clone dvd's and it writes directly to nero anyway ;)
