Title: V3 or R4?
Post by: Colin Liston on May 03, 2005, 09:04:38 AM
I have 4 sets of mics, DPA 4023's and Gefell 210's.  I had been planning on getting a V3, but after looking at the Edirol R4 I am thinking about possibly getting it.

I sometimes run 2 separate rigs which can be a pain, with 2 pre's and 2 A>D's but with the R4 4 mics would be a snap.

Anyone have any thoughts?

V3

R4

thanks

I think the DPAs and the MGs sound different enough that I wouldn't really want to combine them. Running two separate rigs is a pain for me, anyway. If I did, I'd do more of what Wayne B. does and run cards + omnis of the same flavor. With what you've listed, I'd personally go for a stereo rig and the V3.

One of the great things about the r4 is that you can create 2 seperate stereo files at the same time, so it is like running 2 of the same rigs w/ different mics.

I have not done any v3-r4 comp tapes, but if I can round up some gear I'd like to.

Maybe Lynchie can float me his rig for a couple days.

V4? What is this all about?

Short answer:  it was a joke, and doesn't exist.
Long answer:  search for "v4".
