Post by: Bdifr78 on May 04, 2005, 11:30:50 PM
This may seem like a dumb question but what actual stores can I walk into and purchase a thread adapter for my mic stand? :-[

If you don't want to try online just walk into your local photo shop and ask.

i found one (1/4" > 3/8") at a local camera shop (not ritz) after giving up on the online options.
funny thing it was the hardest thing for me to get in my rig so far.

the 3/8 > 5/8 was easier, sam ash just gave me 3 of them.  ;D

I just bought three at my local camera store for 3.95 each.
they called them "quarter-20 to 3/8" adapters.
the package says:
Tri-Pod conversion screw A 1/4 > B3/8.

I can't find a US on line outlet, but here is a pic and a catalog number from the Hama UK store

Yeah I picked one up at a Penn Camera store.  It was like 6 bucks though.  Still it was one of my final peices to the puzzle.

Thanks for the links.  i have a couple of related questions.  Is anyone familiar with the mounting bar that comes with the SPC4s?  It looks very cheap and small and I am wondering what the advantages are of getting a better bar.

Also, how many posts do I need to have before I can give tickets?

at that price grab several, with free shipping that will be hard to beat

the large pic makes it look like there are still burrs on the threads but the first time you screw it on those should be taken care of
