Title: SVU-2 headphone noise from LEDs?
Post by: it-goes-to-eleven on May 05, 2005, 12:34:46 PM
Just picked up an SVU-2 on Ebay..

I notice the LEDs make noise in the headphones when the levels are high and the src quiet.

Anyone else noticed?

Anyone notice if the noise gets injected into the RCA outs on the back?

I'll try to check this out tonight on mine if I get a chance.  I rarely use the headphone out on it, so I don't know off hand if mine does that or not.

OK, what I noticed is when you have signal on the SVU meters, and the headphone volume is all the way down, there is some sound coming through. It's almost like a broken, crackely version of what's being sent to the meters. I could still hear the music just slightly, but it's a very broken signal.  As soon as I turn the volume up a little the noise goes away, and the sound being output seems clean. It's almost like the volume doesn't go completely silent when it's turned down all the way. Kinda wierd. The RCA outs on my SVU seem just fine. Hope that helps.

This is going line out from a JB3 > SVU-2.

I didn't hear any problems from my RCA outs. The headphone out sounds fine to me in any position other than all the way down. Even turning the volume up slightly seems to eliminate the noise.
