Taped Umphrey's the other night at the Belly Up Tavern here in San Diego. First chance to run my mics NOT on my body, which felt like a luxury after only doing stealth jobs for the last year or so.
I've linked to two flac'd songs from the show:
Miss Gradenko (http://www.taperconnection.com/audio/um2005-05-04d1t09.flac)
'Another Brick in the Wall' jam w/Aron and Marc from DB (http://www.taperconnection.com/audio/um2005-05-04d2t06.flac)
First, can you guys guess what mics I used? Or maybe what brand, based on the tone? Second, I ran (mics) > digimod UA-5 > JB3...where, to your ears, is this recording lacking? I've only listened to it from my onboard 6-channel soundcard > AKG K271 cans, but I'm a bad judge of my own work and would love some unbiased opinions on where I could improve at...this goes for post-show editing in cool edit as well.
I'm content with how it came out, but I always like my recordings more and more as I listen to them so I have to exclude myself from rational constructive criticism :)

i dont really think its lacking in much of anything, sounds real good. I am guessing C4's for the mics, possibly audix but more likely C4's...

Is there any chance I could get a copy of this show? I do not have high speed but I have plenty to offer as a trade.
I would love to hear UM do Miss Gradenko!
My list is in my sig.
Email me or pm me if you are interested.

No idea what mics are being used. Everything sounds good to me, except I'm thinking the bass and kick drum aren't as prominent as I like it. Could be my crappy headphones though. I don't know what it sounded like at the show so it's tough for me to comment. I've also got old "Soundguy" ears. :)
I'd be interested to know what mic config you were using.
Haven't heard Miss Gradenko since the Police. That rocks.
Very cool, great work!

+t for having the stones to run out on that floor, I think that's the sweet spot in that place. ;D

Umphrey's board was brought in, so the stands there were set up as close to the board as possible, which ended up straight back in the middle...dumb luck I guess...I never liked the idea of the Belly Up board being over on the side as it is, but I've heard some fine recordings from that nook there where people usually run. That place has great sound no matter where you're at, I think.
