Hey all,
I have bunch of MD's I recorded (with my ECM-MS907 stereo mic. and rather old MD recorder) while I was in Thialand for ten months.
My player is not a HiMD.
I was told this might be my problem when useing softwhere to dump my stuff through a USB connection...
Anyone know how I can do that? Or what I should do to get these sweet tunes onto .wav form?
much respect,
B

The simplest way is to find someone with a MD deck *with digital output*, then use a digital input on the soundcard.
It is a realtime transfer, but, unlike an analog transfer, the results will not have much, if any, additional distortion. People may tell you analog works fine, but you will need a good ADC, something like UA5 or better, to get reasonable quality. Do NOT use a cheap computer soundard.

Unfortunately, Sony in their infinite wisdom do not allow the upload over USB, or even playback over USB, of MD/NetMD recorded material through a Hi-MD unit.
As suggested, the only way for you to do this digitally, is via an MD deck with a digital output, and a soundcard with a digital input. Or even MD deck with digital output to CD recorder with digital input, then rip the CD.
For everything you want to know about MD/NetMD/Hi-MD, head on over to the minidisc.org forums here:

Yeah, I can offer too. Just not too many of them. How many discs have you got?

Funny enough I borrowed a MD deck from this school I was working at, yet all the SONY software I downloaded magicly smelled like an IPOD. AS in I couldn't transfer onto the computer.
so a free standing CD burner... is that the best answer?
Is that what you 2 guys are using?
I have like 8 discs full of samples.

It is a standalone deck, right? Does it have a digital output? If so, you can just play the disk on the deck and use a digital input on some computer sound card. Say what you will, but I've had great luck with a Creative Labs USB device. I forget the model number, I think it was MP+ or something. Anyway the analog totally sucks, but it appears to be bit accurate on input. Any recording program can capture. It just looks like a standard audio device. I think M-Audio transit is similar ... with good digital and better analog quality.
