Title: Copyright legalities in video shooting
Post by: Fldrummerk on May 18, 2005, 10:17:49 AM
Where can I get good information on this?

I would like to see if recording an organization in a open place (park, parking lot..) where no ticket or fee of any kind was required (just parked my car and walked over)

Is it illegal to record them and make that recording available to download on the Internet? Is it up to the organization? Do they have any rights to their own performance in a public place?

Thanks!

http://www.copyright.gov/

If the info there doesn't answer your questions, consult an attorney that specializes in copyright law.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me... When you are in public, you have no reasonable right to privacy. Therefore, anyone is free to tape you and anything around you as they see fit. The catch is, making sure you are in "public"

This might help, too:
