I just recently purchased a set of Superluxes and obviously the stock windscreens suck. I also have a pair of C1000's witch I purchased a set of Windtech 600 series windscreens for. Well I was tinkering around the other day and found the stock Superlux windscreen fits inside the Windtech. My question is can there be too much wind protection? Can this cause a muddy recording? I assume it wont because I have heard of people doing this with that dead rat thing but I figured I'd ask before I go and spend a shit load of my hard earned $ on some wind screens. Eventually I will but I have been buying concert tickets like there going out of style and can't afford really good ones right now.
when i rean the luxes i used to put the lux screens inside of sm58 screens from radioshack. used this setup for bonnaroo and the outside shows sound great, no wind whatsoever. total cost = $0 (got the sm58 screens from fozzy +T)
didn't really see a point in dropping $50-$60 on screens when the mics hardly cost a $100.

No Doubt!!!
I always carry a spare set of sm58 windscreens incase anyone needs to borrow them. I ran them over my oktava stock screens w/ great results. i think i got 10 for $2-3 off ebay a few years back. you never know when you'll end up in a stiff breeze or under a ceiling fan.
The SM58 is a Shure windscreen correct?

just a style of wind screen basically. there are probably lots of manufacturers out there. I think you can even pick em up at radio shack
Thanks for the info! I thnk I will give them a test.
