Title: Flying w/ mic stand
Post by: Chomps on May 28, 2005, 10:57:31 AM
What do people use to put there mic stands in when they fly? I have thought of using PVC tubing but think it may be kinda heavy to carry.

any help would be great

Thanks

This is probably the most frequently asked question I think about stands, the answer can be found by a search but fwiw I use a cardboard poster tube.

Two suggestions.

1--check it.  I bought a 4in OD PVC pipe, cut it to fit, put a cap on one end and a screw fitting on the other.  Sent it along with my other bags.

2--this one is more risky.  Planes have coat closets on them.  Ask that you place your stand in the coat closet.  If they will not let you then you will have to check it with no protection.

enjoy the show

I'm going to buy one of these for the next time I fly with my gear.  Hand made for Native American Indian flutes, but can be made for any length.  Raven is the one I'm going to order, as pictured below.  A little pricey, but well made, with plenty of room to toss in clamps, bungys and what not.  Plastic tubing.

Wow, Spyder, they've got some really nice stuff.  Thanks for the link.
I think I'm going to order "The Crow."

ON this page, there are 2 lighting stands, the Hakuba and the F.64.  One is 36 inches and the other is 46 inches.  they are each below $75.00.

Moke,

Posterpouches' site must be down.  Link no longer works.
