Title: What is the best way to reduce distortion in Audtion/Cool Edit?
Post by: HighVoltage on June 11, 2005, 08:20:09 PM
I got a real good show last night, but whoever recorded it was using a pretty shitty set up, so there is some heavy distortion.  Im trying to clean it up in Audition, so I was wondering if anyone here knew any good tools or filters to use to reduce the distortion as best possible.

Can you define "distortion" in a bit more detail?

it was recorded with real cheap mics, so when the sound is loud, there is constant and loud crackling/hiss.

Sounds like that might be pretty tough to fix.  If the mic input is distorting them, that sound is inherent to the recording.
