Yes, well I am a poor bastard with a nice Mp3 player.
It is a RCA Lyra 2780
You can find info here. (http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/Cultures/en-US/ModelDetail.html?PCI=Lyra+Hard+Drive+Players&ProductID=RD2780&PrevPage=ModelList)
Now I have never done a recording outside a computer mic.
I pose to you my question:
Would it be possible to take my Mp3 player and get a mic for it and record from that?
Now I have noticed that the Ipod has a nice hardware that allows this, how is that sound?
I did notice on the site this little bit of info:
* Audio Recording: Records from analog input source to mp3 format.
Yes that is lame, but I can deal with it and one finnal question: Where could I find a Mic?

Read EVERYTHING the mods have stickied to the threads, then ask questions. Not trying to be rude, tryin to save you from other members. FWIW, most of us use the jb3 mp3 player to record, and havent heard of the lyra being used for that. ipods, dont know.
Search.

Ok thank you guys you have been great help.
If you didn't know, then why bother answering?

Technically, yes - the Lyra appears to support analog input for recording. I doubt you'll find anyone here's who has done so with that particular device, though.
Where could I find a Mic?
Depends on what you want based on budget, recording style (open /stealth), etc. Check out the Where To Begin forum for info on what you'll need besides the mic (e.g. some way to power the mic, whether internally or externally), some ballpark prices for popular mics, commonly used vendors, etc.

yes - it probably would be possible to buy a pair of mics and record with them, as long as there is a line-in.
the mp3 format is not ideal, but if it what you have and want to use, then so be it.
you could probably get some Sound pro mics or some core sounds or any number of other mics with battery boxes to work if you have a line-in. However nice your mics are, you are going to be sacrificing a lot because it only is MP3 compatable.

Well, FWIW, before immediately sending someone to the search function - consider maybe theyve already tried...
A quick search for "RCA Lyra" resulted in only 4 results...and one of those was this one, and only one other involved recording...and that person was similarly blown off and told to search for the info themselves.

Valid point. , and well taken. FWIW, I was implying that since most of us dont use the lyra to record, and since a search of this site wouldnt be fruitful, I was implying that he should search google or some other resource. I was tryin to save the guy some trouble thats all. There are some mean hearted folks who really dont hold back here, though they are few and far between. You are right though. +T
