i've seen a few of these on ebay...and i'm confused...after market stuff?
akg 460 w/ a weird top and gold omni cap: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=29950&item=7331250391&rd=1

thats weird. maybe an older cap from the 450 series??
-
very weird
-
it seems the top of the 460 is oddly shaped too...i've come across some other 460s with normal ck6x caps but have that narrowing top too...
-
adapter + 450 capsule
-
^^ I didnt know the 450 series had interchangeable caps.
used them 1x and I didnt like the way the mount was hard mounted onto the body

That's a 460 body with an adaptor and a CK-2 omni capsule from the 450 line. The original 450's (not the cheaper 451 you can get today) were modular just like the 460/480 series are. The akg tube used those capsules as well. It's actually silver, it just looks gold in the photo. The older 450's came in silver and black.

Weird that he would be using an adapter and then an old omni cap.. why not just get a ck62? Strange lookin' mic... I wonder how it sounds.

There is someone on this board (can't remember who) who runs 460s with ck61,1,2,63 and 8 caps I think. My guess is if you already have the adapter and can get a good deal on the 2s, there isn't a huge difference between them and the 62s. I've seen several 460s go with that adapter and the ck1 cap, but that is the first time I've seen them paired with a silver omni.
