So I decided to try out my new caps last night and tape a local band, and got TONS of static on the last track of the show, but the batts did not actually die on anything, so I'm not sure what the deal is. There have been lots of threads about this type of thing before so I thought maybe someone could help diagnose.
Hoping it was a case of the battery dying on the AD-20 but the last time that happened, it made noise for about 3 seconds then just died.
I've attached a lo-res sample of the static noise.
thanks for any help!

a bit of searching and I see a problem with similar waveform http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=39079.15
but it can't be the same issue (or solution at least) because that was attributed to an MME problem...

maybe an optical cable issue??
i had a problem of static when i went optical in on jb3 from a dsc box... it sounded like that...

but if it were an optical cable, it seems strange that it only happened in the last 5 mins of the recording. I didn't move anything at that point. I might test that anyway though.

My guess would be the AD-20 battery. I used that for about 4 years, and the battery dying did different strange things each time. I'd recommend changing the battery in the AD-20 to see if that makes it go away before you try anything else.
