Title: Tascam DA-40 vs. Sony PCM-R300
Post by: LeftoverSammy on July 09, 2005, 07:13:56 PM
Hi Folks,
Ok, I came across this deal to buy a Tascam DA-40 that only has 66hrs on it for $150!!! Its complete with manual, box & remote in flawless (looks almost unused) condition!! My question is I already have a Sony PCM-R300 in also very good condition with about 300hrs on it. I paid $250 from Dwonk for it and consider it to have been a good deal. Never had one issue with the R300 - love it!

Should I not even think about it and just JUMP on the DA-40?? Seems like a REALLY good deal. What does everyone think? Is this a better deck than the R300? Its (DA-40) retail price is upwards towards $1000. Any known issues? It has alll pro and SPDIF I/O's as well as balanced and unbalanced analog I/O's.

What do I do?? Fork out the $150 and keep the R300 as a back up? Every once in a while I come across these sweet deals & I debate back and forth till I loose out on the deal. This time I think I should jump on it..it looks like a nice deck in flawless condition!

Thanks my fellow tapers!
Peace,
LoS
