Title: Recording gear
Post by: lushka on July 24, 2005, 10:02:26 AM
Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a recorder, which will not exceed the range of 700 USD. Could anyone suggest anything ... I  need a recorder, which has on the fly recording level capabilities?

Thanks in advance,

Please, reply to mail e-mail: lushka_2000@mail.ru

We need context before we're able to make meaningful recommendations...

What mics and preamp?
Open or stealth?
Running analog-in or digital-in on the recorder?
24-bit required or is 16-bit acceptable?
Real-time transfers to PC acceptable, or will you not stand for anything slower than USB/firewire transfers?

Hi Lushka,

Glad to see you here!

Do a search on Nomad JB3 and see if its for you. I've been stealthing one for over two years. It'll be an upgrade on your minidisc.

Cheers

a little reading here, and narrowing down a huge range of possibilities per brian's post may serve you well.  your question is a little too open ended.

Thanks for your comments guys. I mostly stealth tape shows. My current recording rig consists of MM-HLSC-3 (mics), MM battery box and an Aiwa MD recorder. So I guess I need something inconspicuous. I don't care for high speed master > PC transfers but I do care for the possibility of not changing media while taping shows. I was thinking of Archos Gmini 400...Is it a good choice? Nevertheless, I'm open to other suggestions.

Go to JB3  8) it's like a cd player, ideal for stealth and you have a lot info here...or waiting for the great coming  MICROTRACKER!!!
