Title: help for the computer illiterate
Post by: jibooer on July 29, 2005, 08:03:15 AM
Hey pholks!

I recently had a system built (asus a8v w/ amd64) and  I can't wait to get it rolling. No software was installed, not even XP, so I figured - no prob, just put the cd in and away we go...WRONG.  All that happenned is that the c:// was broght up in DOS.  I found the directory to the D:// drive, read the files, but the setup.exe program wouldn't execute from DOS.

I know I am doing something stupidly wrong.

I assumed that it would autorun when the CPU booted up w/ the XP cd in the drive but no go.  Could someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance,

jibooer

P.S. I'm dying to get this sucker going as 100's of DATs are calling for me to transfer them!!!!!!!!!

You go in and hit delete after startup to enter the ASUS bios. There should be a header titled boot sequence. Make sure that you make the cd/dvd drive 1st.
after that of course change it back to boot from the hard disk.
