Do you mean what are the Common Models of MD Recorders?
I used a Sony MZ-R700, and a MZ-R73
I know they(Sony) have an MZ-S1
I guess Sony uses MZ to start the abbreviations. I do not know any brands other than Sony.
For the record...ive pulled some excellent shows with my ole` Sony's. I have no problem listening to a show that was recorded on a MD, and still use my MD as a back up from time to time.

Sharp MD-SR60

I'm sorry if that came out like a MD was taboo , I always appreciate any taper/hoster/transferer's efforts. Thank you for your replies.
if you ever think it might be an MD source, go to www.minidisc.org and click on equipment browser...
Sony: MZ-R70 R700 R500 R900 R90 R37 , N1 N10
Sharp: MT15 MT90 MT180 SR60 DR7 MT877 MT77 MT770
of course there are many more for both companies, but these are the most common

you can't "upload" the music to your computer, but if you get a home/studio deck with coax or optical i/o, you can transfer the audio to you computer in the digital domain provided you have a good pci card that also has coax/opt i/o
