$19 and quite amazing sounding for this modest price.
headphone.com or amazon had the best deals. the dealer at headroom said that these were the best bang for the buck so I picked up a pair...
wow, he was right.
fwiw...

what are you listening to them through? i need to find a good set of cans to pair with my m902, and am wondering whether i need to spend several hundred to get a good listening setup or whether i can save a bit...

there are alot of options to work with...try the sennheiser HD 580's as a good cost v. performance compromise...i love mine. big open sound, never fatiguing, comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. $160 from j and r (click email a better price) and you can find them cheaper for sure.

you have a $1500 headphone amp.... get some good cans.

we'll see how the 555's are, I loved the writeup and reviews so much, thought it was worth doing for $139 shipped at amazon. really wanted something versatile, that I could use with an amp, or through a decent headphone out of a component, or take on the road, since it apparently can produce decent results out of a portable. Just decided to save the bulk of what I've set aside for either the 722 or playback, when I make up my damn mind which. :P

yeah, i had the 580's with us in portsmouth for some listening tests this weekend. i typically do not use them with a HF amp as mine broke when the dog got caught in the cable and knocked the airhead to the floor. :P there's a broken piece that rattles around inside now.

when I was talking to headroom, I told them i'm willing to spend around a hundred, and they still steered me to these $20 headphones.
I'll 2nd that recomendation on getting good cans for that Grace headphone amp. as good as these $20 senns are, i'd buck up for something a little nicer perhaps. maybe some mid level grado's at least.

is it the 210 or the 201?
Looking for a cheap pair to wear at work

d'oh!
201
-
might have to order the 201, 20 bucks is pretty good
-
yes indeed.
I bought them for around the house ...tracking and mixing shows plus live monitoring use. they are a sealed can.

Headroom rulez.

Hey, Nick- did the folks at Headroom give you any feedback on the 202? It seems to have slightly better specs, plus removeable cables, at close to the same price (+$5)... Any knowledge? Looking forward to some good headphones! I am tempted to get the 201 and 202 just to compare and have a spare pair around... hmmm. Shoot, it would still be under $50 bucks!
-
nope. no feedback on the 202. I asked about models about 3-5 up in the price range from the bottom, and this guy was still all about the 201. they are probably all based off the same core parts or something.
