Title: global analysis in wavelab v2>722 Clipping ???
Post by: Zee on August 08, 2005, 11:42:58 PM
Okay, so I’ve been running the v2>722 and love to run it hot but now that I am learning a little bit about audio editing I see at some point I am getting “clipping” when I use the global analysis in wavelab. Once I zoom in I see some flat spots on the wave but it’s not audible.  Is this from running to much preamp or too much gain on the 722? I like running the V2 hot if I where to turn the gain on the 722 down to -.4 or something so its not recording as hot will it still clip? I guess what I’m asking is this the pre that is clipping?

Are the flat spots at 0 dBFS? If so, that means you're hitting the max input level of the ADC. You can turn down the gain on either device. Use the 722 meters as your guide, since I *think* they're post ADC.

Agree, you're likely clipping the ADC on the 722, not the V2.
