Title: JB3 ac adapter question
Post by: partyroy on August 12, 2005, 10:05:20 PM
I bought my jb3 on ebay recently and an currently bidding on every battery that comes through on ebay...

anyway, mine came with the ac adapter which plugs into the jb3, but it did not come with the cord that runs from the outlet to the ac adapter itself. I have a couple of cords which look like they might work (from cd player/boomboxes etc...) but don't want to just try 'em for risk of frying the machine.

What numbers need to match up and if I need to buy one where is the best place to go??

If it looks like it fits - you should be ok..its AC and there are only 2 wires. Most old boom box cords should work...I would think. Nothing terribly special or unique about that piece. Its more or less, an extension cord. None of my Creative AC adapters are the same...

It is good news that any would work but... none of the ones I have laying around fit. The 'plug' needed for my jb3 narrows in the middle and the ones I have don't. Would radio shack or a place like that have the plug I need??

maybe I'll just do some carving....

carving would be fine unless you somehow short the wires, if it is shorted it will probably just throw the breaker rather than damage the power supply.  Alternatively you could pick up a new AC/DC converter from RS that can do 5v and handle an Adaptaplug B.

20 minutes of carving did the job, I wasn't sure if there was a + and - end so I labelled it when I plug it in and turned it on and saw some action. All appears to be well. I got my batteries. Next, new mics and the cables...

Thanks for you help guys.

There is a + and - but it changes 60 times/second  ;)
