First off, any help with these questions would be much appreratied. Thanks in advance. Trying to get back into taping since since the analog days. ;D
How does the Kwon bar hold the mics (dpa, schoeps ect...) hold the mics? And will and can this work for mini AT's or DPA?
(Pic below on what I'm talking about)
Also has anyone used the MPS6010 with the DPA 4061's? Ya or Nay? Better to go with a HQ Pre (V3,Mp2,UA5)?
-
the bar is slotted and the cables just snap in... they are secure, no worries 8)
same as the schoeps stcg bar
haven't used the mps6010 but can highly recommend the mma6000, very clean sounding with plenty of gain... great stealth pre, sort of a mini-Grace sound. If stealth isn't a concern then get the 48v phantom power adadpters and run a V3

The MPS6000 I think is the same as MPS6010, only difference is the output (MPS6010 3pin XLR). Wasn't planning on stealthing, but thought just the DPA 4061 sounds great and would be great on a stand and thought I run DPA 4061 > MPS6010 > Oade SBM-1 > D8. Trying to figure a easy way to mount these bad boys. I did a search and saw some very inventive ways, but was looking for something like kwon bar and adjust the mics for omni placement. But basicly something that don't have to make...Any suggestions?

the dpa4061's sound great on a stand... they're phenomenal mics
anyway, they sell clips and then you would have to have some sort of DIY t-bar
btw - if you're new here check out this thread about baffled omni's/jecklin disc method.... it's a great way to run those dpa's :)

DPA makes all kinds of cool shit to mount these miniature mics with, go over to dpamicrophones.com and look under the miniature microphones icon, it has the mics themselves as well as the wind screens and all kinds of mounts including magnetic mounts you can slap onto any metal surface, that's what I'm going with, as for preamp I suggest the simple and small mma6000, it runs about $450 or so, this rig can be run stealth or open and I plan to do both, but I'm skipping the SBM1 and D8 and going with the PCMM1 which has an adc nearly identical to the SBM1 so this whole rig will be super small :)
-
How about this mount? What ya think? Seems the mics would fit in a there if you put on the windshelds..Double up on the windsheilds. You can even an a shock mount.
-
looks pretty coo, perhaps a bit wide for all situations but from a stand in the section of FOB it would probably work well

That gooseneck is fully adjustable to just about any kind of config. I saw a guy using one once. Both sides were bent upwards in a U shape.

It comes 12in or 24in wide. Here it is with shock mount. Adjustable also.
Thanks for all info ya'll. ;)

i second the jdisc mention..it sounds great. i own the Formerly Known as Tim's DPAS and mma6000 and i love them.....
-
the 406x series is highly underrated because of
1. their size
2. their cost
3. the fact that they are omni's - I think a lot of people don't know how best to use them and that many people don't have playback systems that accurately reproduce them
-
When mounting the DPA 4061, are they mounted up _!_ or [-- ? up or out?

which is the correct power supply to use with the 4061 series to get more gain? i run these line in with only the CS battery box in the middle, but i cant get the levels high enough usually. its a mini-XLR connection into the supply as described below:
The cable runs for six feet and terminates in a high reliability, US-made multi-pin locking mini-XLR plug; the mini-XLR plug connects to the battery box. Also connected to the multi-pin plug (in a "Y" configuration) is a two foot cable terminating in a gold-plated, stereo, 1/8-inch (3.5 mm) mini-phone plug.
i'm wondering whether the MMA6000 or the MPS6010 is the correct one? and will it solve my gain issues?
thanks.

mma 6000..
thats what I own with the 4061s

I think your problem with enough gain results from the battery box you are using; the MPS6000 series is merely a battery box, I don't think it can provide gain because there are no trim pots with which to do so; the MMA6000 unit however provides both phantom power and it provides variable gain since it has trim pots; you really out to go over to dpamicrophones.com to look at pics of all the units, its all there

so we have LSD stereo mic and DPA with its microdots..
-
okay any preferred suppliers for both the dpa4061s and the mma6000?
thanks!
