I recently moved and just last night pulled my old reliable D7 out of the box to discover it is not working (apparently the moving box was dropped... tragedy).
I don't have time to dig out the charger and batteries for my D10 for the concert I am stealthing on Thursday night (not to mention the difficulty of steathing with a D10)...
I'm in NYC and have been scouring craigslist and various other avenues thinking I can buy something quick and cheap used to replace this for the very very short term.
What I've come up with is:
$225 for a used Creative Nomad Jukebox 20gig (NOT a JB3, just a regular JB)
$75 for a Sharp MD-MT832 including 20 discs
$60 for a Sony Net MD NE 410
$175 for a Sony MZ-N10 with blank discs
There's also a Sony PCM-M1 on Ebay (auction closing soon, local to me).
What do I buy? The concert is Thursday night (day after tomorrow).
Of course, if anyone here wants to lend me something (I'm in NYC) that would work even better :D

FWIW, do not buy the Nomad Jukebox - it's a MP3 player only, won't record.
I'd go with either the Sharp MD or the M1.

I would probably go with the MD since it is cheap. Use it for that show, then sell it, your D10 and your broken D7 on Ebay and buy a Nomad JB3 or get a Microtracker if it pans out. I personally would not spend any more $$$ on DAT.

If my stealthing DAT croaked, I'd probably pick up a Hi-MD recorder. They record to WAV, sound pretty good analog-in from what I gather, and though the 90min of record time isn't stellar IME most stealth shows don't require more than 90min before a set break or breakdown for another band at which time it's easy enough to change discs.
But I have no idea if the MDs you mention are Hi-MD or not.

Do you mind me asking what show you're going to?
If I was still in NYC I'd let you borrow my JB3. I just headed down to the Outer Banks from NYC.

Well, I lost out on the M1 on Ebay at the last minute and don't feel like spending $499 on one at B&H here in the city (though I am very tempted).
I do love DAT...
Anyway, I've confirmed the deal for the $75 Sharp Minidisc and will be using that.
To answer the last person who posted (and I can't believe I missed borrowing something by just that much) I'm taping Dolly Parton on Thursday night and then Neil Diamond on Friday night.
It's just a retro '70s fest here this week!!!
Thanks for the advice and the help.
