looking for portability and small size, but w/o giving up protection.

is that like the dap-1 portabrace? jeez, blast from the past. i sold that brick years ago - and threw in that brace for free. DOH
fozzy - you run the HO's w/ the 722 right? how'd you like it? i'm sick of lugging my mp2/ad2k+, batteries, and all... along w/ a laptop to capture it all...
now it'll just be the HO's>>722.
i have a targus rakgear but i don't think it'll be very good for the 722.
I want a bag that i'll be able to put other stuff in too - clamp, a20 shockmount, cables, mics. earplugs, drugs. ;)

damn that petrol eargonizer looks SICK but kinda pricey.

The PB CS-7 holds the 722 and 2 batts (one attached and one just sitting there) or my custom batt pack.
the RM-Multi main pouch holds. In tuperware(1 set of caps w/ active cables attached w/ DPA windscreens and a shure A53M), a countryman pouch w/ DIN and DINa bar and mic bodies. 12" RCA interconnects w/ standard neutriks and mini-quad, hyper caps in individual containers.
The front pouch on the RM-Multi holds: a plasic trash bag, windtech clamp w/ stud, standard mic stand stud, mini-mag, gitzo ball and socket extension.
I keep a roll of gaffers tape threaded through a accessory loop.

currently i have 2(going to be 3) 7.4v 7.2AH packs going into a sony dummy cell. It give me 14+ hours of runtime.
Each pack costs ~50 which i thought was a bargain till I found some 6.6AH Sony batteries for ~40 a piece.

I charge the packs w/ an astroflight 109 li-poly charger. It can charge each pack in a bout an hour.
Pros:
no battery swap
14+ (soon to be 20+) runtime [Verified @ 24/96 & 24/48]
fast recharge (full 1C rate) each pack rechrges in about 1hr15min [most sony style chargers run ~1amp or less (6hr recharger for a 6A batt)]
Cons:
pricey (3x Np-960 = ~120) (3 packs + charger ~250)
probably couldn't do air travel w/ this pack since the TSA only allows 12 li-ion cells Unassembled unless it has CE certification for the pack (which it doesn't, and probably couldn't meet)

in that pic of the trew bag, those heavy duty rubber shocks, the k-tek ones that can withstand an earthquake, are what i have on my AT 8415's ;d
sorry, just dont see those heavy duty versions much at all, i think im the only one who runs them in the filed at shows ???
that trew is bad-ass tho

I've found that the Nova 5 works quite well. It gives me plenty of room for the Sax, 722, cables, clamps, gaffers tape, cell phone, iPod, spare batteries, etc.

are there any backpack style bags besides the rakgear that people use specifically?

boswell, escott, and joew use a soniccase
william put together a false bottom that the 722 sits on with a cutout for the battery

Since those Shure puffies take up some room, thought I'd go with the Kata Sundo-1. But it's not field tested yet... and it ain't cheap either, but that's the danger of this game... after awhile something that costs a "no way" turns into a "maybe".

iuse the mountainsmith with my 7222 in a portabrace inside of it, nice since i can have all of my gear set up and just go into the show ready to go with the active on, has plenty of room for accessories and it is easy to carry

Frank at Cascade Media recomended to me the KATA KOALA-2 or 3. And it loooks like they just came out with the KOALA-4 made for the 722/744. They look bigger then the Porta Brace one and cheaper.

7222 ??? is that the model they give you neumann guys to make up for the sloppy bass? :P

Kata makes some of the best gear on the planet. I'd take anything made by them so long as it fits my needs.

I do. It's a little too much for just the 722, imo, but I usually run a v2 in front.

Seems the price was almost the same no matter where I looked, so I went with B&H Photo since they also had some other stuff to spend my hard earned cash on.

I have a CS7 Portabrace for mine w/ the RM-Multi on the front and a DAP1 pouch on the back. I started with just the CS7 and RM Multi, but there wasn't really enough room for the m148 and my Schoeps. I could squeeze it all in, but couldn't carry the wooden Schoeps box and I wanted to be able to get everything in the same bag for traveling. I ended up talking to Portabrace and they sold me the DAP1 pouch on it's own. I like the setup b/c I can take the DAP1 pouch off if I decide to run the 722 w/out the m148 and have a smaller bag. I can take some pics if anyone is interested.
