Title: Bogen-Manfrotto 3076 17' Stand
Post by: soccerkid on August 19, 2005, 03:58:49 PM
I am looking to buy one of these and am having trouble finding any place that carries them.  All my local stores said its not in their catalogs any longer.  Did they stop making this stand?

I only found it online at this place www.cambridgeworld.com

I ordered it (seems like a shady site)

I never got a confirmation email, so i called today and they said its back ordered and will be a few weeks......

I would like to cancell my order from there becuase i am a little nervous about the site....but want to find it somewhere else first.

Thanks.

Most tapers use a 13' stand (or less).  Probably just not a high enough demand from tapers or people in the photo / lighting business for vendors to keep them in stock.  I would be concerned about the compacted length and the footprint size on a stand that would raise to 17' for taping purposes.

To answer your question, though: I don't know anyone who owns one or any vendor who sells them.  Also have no experience dealing with cambridgeworld.com.  Good luck!

actually the 17' stand is the one I have, and it has a smaller footprint than the 13' that I did...also more stable since when I dont extend it all the way (which I dont, ever) you have basically 2 tubes inside a couple of sections which makes it alot more stable...

solid stand though...and is perfect for true fob, when you are running at a rowdy show and cant extend the legs...fits right in between amphitheatre seats compacted and you can duct it in place

This is a very good point.  If you have a 12ft stand extended to 10-12 feet and there are a lot of mics clamped on, it can get wobbly.  A 17' stand that is extended only 10-12 feet will be more rigid.  Depending on how the legs adjust, foot print should be reasonable.

I have the 3076 as well and don't think I've ever had the legs fully extended.  It's quite stable even with them out halfway.  That being said, I think I've only run it at the full 17' one time.  Most times I'm around 10-12.

I have the 3333  9'4" Bogen and it is light, stable, and has always brought me above the noise of the crowd.

I've got the 3333 too, and with the legs fully extended its more like 11 feet.
