from the website:
Household batteries such as alkaline and dry cell batteries that cannot be recycled may be discarded in the garbage.
Some cities collect alkaline batteries at their recycling events. Call your city recycling coordinator to check whether this service is available.
Household batteries should not be taken to recycling centers
Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cad), Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH), Lithuim Ion (LiLon) and small lead batteries under 2 lb. (rechargable) batteries can be recycled free of charge. Go to www.rbrc.com (http://www.rbrc.com) for recycling locations closest to you.

remember its just a small version of a car battery , Actually I use a 12v12Ah in My 4 wheeler
anyplace that sells a Car,Boat,RV battery has to accept dead ones..
pretty much ya can take it to any parts store and they will recycle it for ya ..
same thing goes for used motor oil..

SLA batteries will last a long time if properly maintained. I keep mine on the trickle charger when not in use. My 10Ah battery is over 7 years old and it still runs the v3 for 9 straight hours off a full charge.
