Title: Good burner that's compatible with EAC
Post by: Karl on August 20, 2005, 07:11:03 PM
I'm looking to get a new CD burner.  I want to get one that works well with EAC (exact audio copy).  I don't have the budget to get something expensive, like a Plextor.

Here's a list of some brands that newegg.com is selling at a nice price:

Rosewill
Asus
Sony
Aopen
Samsung
Teac
LG
Lite On
Mitsumi
Opto Rite

For the purposes of EAC, I know that that program will work more efficiently if:
the drive has accurate stream
doesn't cache audio data
and uses C2.

A couple that might be more appealing because they come with software are Rosewill, Asus, Lite On, and Opto Rite.

Opinions?

spend $50 from newegg and get a nec 3520a dvd burner.  eac works great (I cna give you the offsets and settings) and it's a dvd burner as well.  I've burned well over 600-700 disc and only one coaster and that was my fault.

I'll second that.

3rd and qft on the NEC drives.

FYI, I bought a Sony Vaio desktop and it came with a, drumroll please, Sony DW22a DVD burner.  It lasted about 10 days before they were forced to send a replacement.  New one appears to be fine but it hasnt hit the 10 day old mark yet.   ::)
